Reports by Bill
29
cars for this class & it was seven apiece for the popular Cavalier &
Bluebird. Material wise a Mk4 for 716 Jamie Lyden & Mk3 estate for 75 Cory
(the ex Baby Face model) were most welcome as were the two Superminxes, you’ve
no doubt guessed that 313 Mayhem had one, the other belonging to 537 Mad Mitch,
an estate that I believe last saw action at the 2003 Hednesford pre’68.
Heat
1 (23 cars) - 600 Jason Emery (Cavalier) made a bee-line for 41 Darren Dodds’
Sunny in the opener, putting him away nicely though 600 went round in the move
& he received one on the nose from 622 Ifor’s baby Volvo. The latter was
later buried by 110 YoYo Man’s Cav whilst returnee 101 Dicky Watts (Mk2
Cavalier) nearly had very welcome Incarace guest 777 Luffy’s well tonka’s
Bluey round. 529 Daz Krauesslar in another Mk2 Cav spun Mayhem, 555 Charlie
Barrett (Golf) doing likewise to Watts as 126 Casey leaned 481 Bernie onto the
infield. 91 Beech tossed 599 Steve Jones (Cav) aside with 30 Matt Cadle (Volvo
340) thundering up 599, Beech then removing 37 Kevin Agutter (Astra estate) as
Emery spun Mayhem into the path of Watts. 211 Bryan Trinder pinched Emery
against the wall as Casey thundered up Watts before engaging Luffy head-on,
sidelining 112 Rusty’s Corolla in the process with Mayhem arriving with a shot
on Casey. Beech was a worthy winner, 252 Will Bignell (Sunny) & Trinder his
placemen.
Result:
91 Dave Beauchamp, 252 Will Bignell, 211 Brian Trinder, 575 Paul Tritton, 815
Ian Castle, 555 Charlie Barrett
Heat
2 (23 cars) - began with Beech again in the thick of it, 573 Chris Brooks
(Civic) an early victim & very nearly YoYo Man too! Krauesslar had a lucky
escape from an attempted Bignell follow-in though the former’s car was later
collected by 124 Orris when Casey ran him into it, 124 getting airtime. 575
Tritt spun Mayhem as Cory picked up & ran Cadle in big time, Cory being
removed a lap later by Barrett. Bignell impressed by sweeping aside the
experienced pairing of Tritt & 815 Ian Castle (Cav) in one heave whilst
Rusty removed Emery. Casey was lying 2nd until being taken out &
promptly blasted by the constantly impressing Bignell leaving the path clear for
Orris to secure the win, from Bernie & Castle.
Result: 124 Karl Korszewski, 481 Bernie Spiers, 815 Castle, 777 Trevor Luff, 112 Shaun Russell, 555 Barrett
Heat
3 (27 cars) - for the last heat which proved to be race of the day. Emery
commenced things by turning Dodd whilst Ifor buried Lyden. Bernie landed a shot
on Bignell, though the latter bounced back to meet Jones. Beech gave Luffy a
tour of the Armco as Mayhem met Mitch – the little minxes! Rusty hooked Watts
out with Dodd & Brooks clattering into Watts. Agutter wound Orris out but
soon paid the price as Trinder fenced him & a recovered Orris duly wasted
him big style to leave the Astra wreck of the day! Casey spun Trinder as Mitch
landed a shot on the Mk3 estate only to have his rear wheel ripped off & day
ended by a stunning shot from Lyden. Beech thundered Mayhem in with Emery
planting Rusty into 313 before 600 latched onto Watts but with a seizing clutch
600 required Barrett’s assistance to gain sufficient momentum to run Watts in.
Another full contact win for Beech this time Castle & Casey being his
placemen.
Result:
91 Beech, 815 Castle, 126 David Case, 777 Luff, 110 Derek Tyler, 112 Rusty
Final
(22 cars) – started with Beech entertaining at the expense of Mayhem who
he clattered into the fence as Casey not for the first time wound Trinder out.
Dodd attacked Hands with Beech arriving to whoosh them both in. Hands recovered
to jack Mayhem as Cory turned it round to steam Barrett sadly as the latter was
exiting causing a stoppage & Barrett a ride in the ambulance, Cory being
loaded for his actions all of which totally avoidable had common sense
prevailed! Luffy ran Hands in on the restart with Mayhem also blasting 816 as he
reversed off the fence whilst Beech spun Bignell before sadly retiring. Casey
hooked Hadland out, Luffy doing likewise to Bignell as Orris cruised to his
second final win in as many meetings, YoYo Man & Casey following him across
the line.
Result:
124 Orris, 110 Yo Yo, 126 Casey, 575 Paul Tritton, 576 Simon Hadland, 777 Luff
Demolition
Derby - just four for the demo & after a couple of laps of chase Hands
caught Ifor nicely, 622 hitting the Armco & crashing out whilst 816 went on
to meet Mayhem before Beech messed with 313. This allowed Hands to build up
steam & deliver a rated head-on to Beech which not surprisingly stopped both
motors & leave Mayhem the last runner & £20 richer. To his credit Mick
dished out a couple of blasts to the encouraging Hands before marshals
intervened. All enjoyable stuff largely thanks to Beech.
Result:
313 Mick (Mayhem) Cotton

19th September 2004 Over 1800cc
I
know many were looking forward to the first unlimited since June & twenty
drivers supported the occasion. There were 6 Granadas, 5 Voles plus used Jags
for 70 Steven Hart & 415 Richard Berlin, the former garaged since the Heavy
Metal but no competition for top motor that being 5 Mad Rath’s impressive
Caddy Fleetwood.
Heat
1 (16 cars) - for the opener & an FBI mistake saw 538 Glen Lambourne
(Reno 21 estate) dump 007 Matty Cox (Vole 740) on the infield as Mad Rath leaned
273 Erny’s 960 Vole in. 536 Kev Hardie nibbled on the Yank boot before Berlin
leaned the Yank into Hardie & 111 Steve Pritchett’s Carlton, Cox arriving
to steam the latter. Hardie recovered to land a shot on Mad Rath, the Caddy boot
already nicely folded down before 417 Shelly (Sierra estate) too joined in &
heaved 5 round. 417 went on to remove top dog 54 Winnie (estate) as Lambourne
tossed 817 Rich Hands aside before it was 2 Jon B’s (Vole estate) turn to
climb over the back of the Caddy. 578 Bert in his rapid Gallant soon had him
round though as Shelly bravely messed with Berlin only to be ran in by 104 Lee
Gumm (estate). Pritchett & Hardie saw the race out with further shots to Mad
Rath as Bert breezed past long time leader 106 Paul Gumm’s Mk2 Cav for the
win, 110 YoYo Man (estate) 3rd.
Result:
578 Bryan Tritton, 106 Paul Gumm, 110 Derek Tyler, 606 Liam Weedon, 54 Alan
Cartwright, 538 Glenn Lambourne
Heat
2 (18 cars) - soon one less as 907 Clive Bowker rolled his Mk3 before even
reaching the rostrum. Early reds, Bowker out ok & on the rerun Hands spun
Pritchett with Mad Rath on hand with a sensible t-bone to the Carlton before
Bert clashed with the Yank, doing the steering on the Gallant. Lambourne
performed a slow follow-in on Pritchett & next time round hooking Erny out
before putting himself in at speed ending his meeting. Pritchett ended the race
as he began being a Hands’ victim, this time being run in as with Bert out of
the way, Paul Gumm cruised to an easy win ahead of Winnie & 112 Rusty, the
latter eager for points & had opted to bring his 1600cc Corolla out with the
big boys & it will be interesting to see whether he & 575 Tritt (who
came 4th) will have their points deducted from this race. If so, Erny
who finished 5th would in fact be 3rd – if you catch my
drift!
Result:
106 Paul Gumm, 54 Winnie, 273 Stuart Emery, 110 Yo Yo
Heat
3 (15 cars) - Hardie quickly finished Mad Rath’s day, ripping a wheel off
the Caddy whilst Hart, in his first race was an early retiree. 851 Bode (Vole
estate) removed both Cox & Hardie before sidelining the leading Erny, the
latter pulling off with steering probs. Hart meanwhile limped back onto the
racing line but no doubt regretting his actions as 76 BamBam (Vole estate) put
him away whilst Winnie came through for the win ahead of 606 Boomer (Bluebird
estate) & Lee Gumm.
Result:
54 winnie, 606 Boomer, 104 Lee Gumm, 110 Yo Yo, 76 Sean Enevoldsen, 007 Matty
Cox
Final
(14 cars) - Fourteen for the final & after a long wait Bert caught a
limping Hart, launching him into Shelly before Cox took over the 70/578 combo
heaving them both aside. Quick to recover, Bert once more thumped the 70 Jag
with Paul Gumm taking time out whilst well in front to also assault Hart. This
allowed Erny to close right in on Paul G & despite making hard work of it
managed to eventually flick the Cav aside on the very last bend for victory,
Boomer & Winnie coming home next with a recovered Paul Gumm next whilst
BamBam saw the action out blasting Hart.
Result:
273 Erny, 606 Boomer, 54 Winnie, 106 Paul Gumm, 110 Yo Yo, 007 Cox
Demolition
Derby - To their credit six came out for the derby, Hart quick to turn it
round as was BamBam who made straight for 70. Hart found Bode head-on with once
again BamBam assaulting the Jag before turning attentions to Bode where he was
joined by Erny. Hardie then administered a hefty bone to Bode as Hands steamed
BamBam & Bode engaged Erny in a hard head-on before 851 did likewise to
Hands. BamBam then dished out a decent shot on Hands before these two tried to
burn out each others clutches. After the smoke had cleared it was BamBam that
delivered the final blow & ran out the winner.
Result: 76 Sean Enevoldsen
