Standlake
5th September 2004 – Under 1600cc

A
reasonable entry of 30 cars seeing as it was the Hot Rods time to take centre
stage. Plus the SEGTO Team Nudge and Spin challenge which attracted a further 29
cars. Cars of note included an
Allegro Vanden Plas for 417 Sheldon Gardiner painted to his usual high standards
and a Corsair for 852 Jamie Howell which unfortunately wasn’t painted but car
of the meet was 313 Mayhems fintail A55.
Heat
1 (30 cars) - was a quiet affair with the only action of note was 91
Beech’s Bluey spinning the 05 Jamie Nicholls Volvo backwards into the fence.
815 Ian Castle (Corolla) took the win from 124 Orris (Bluey) and 151 Stu Timms (Montego).
Heat
2 (28 cars) - This was an all-together more lively affair. 2 Jon Bricknell
powered his Bluebird into the back of the 5 Herbie’s Peugeot. 252 Bignell
picked up the Capri of 18 Matt Brock clattering him into the fence but going in
hard himself. Ozzie in his Smallfield Volvo fired 417 Shelly’s limping Allegro
into the pile up forming on the top bend big pile only to be jacked himself by
151 Chris Baker with several others steaming in. It was 710 Laurence Moakes who
lead home a handful of limping finishers from 510 Stuart Taylor (Astra) and 815
Castle’s Corolla.
Final
(20 cars) - The nudge and spin boys allowed out for this one. Mayhem treated
us to a slow motion roll, not to be out done 606 Boom showed us what he could do
with a high speed roll onto the centre green only to continue on his way. The
reds came out to rescue Mayhem who was none the worse for wear. A complete
restart followed. 91 Beech clattered Brock’s Capri into the fence only to feel
the force of Mayhems A55. 33 Spunky (mk2 Cav) steamed the 441 Nudge and Spin
Cavalier which was now being piloted by the ex 2 times points champion Stu
(Potty) Phillips. Boom gave 36 Beany (Golf) a punt up the back only to be jacked
by that man Mayhem. 31 picked up Beech but couldn’t quite put him away and
paid the price by being fenced by Beech. Potty got revenge from the earlier shot
by giving Spunky a t-bone to the front wheel. 116 Coops (Metro!!!) then jacked
Potty on the run down lap, which unfortunately carried on after the reds. 124
Orris took the win from 441 Potty and although Coops was third over the line he
was disqualified for his after race antics giving 91 Beech the third place.
Demolition
Derby (12 cars) - made it onto the track for the last event of the day.
Beech put 851 Bode Sierra into the armco and then went onto jack Boom. A
recovered Bode gave Mayhem a gentle head on. Coops steamed 815 Castle who in
turn jacked Mayhem who in turn jacked Bode. After a bit of chasing around Bode
t-boned Castle but it was Castle who drove away and given the win as Mayhem was
deemed to be stationary. Castle gave the A55 a fierce head on anyway to end a
very successful day.
Just
a mention of the nudge and spin boys which were quite enjoyable (wash my mouth
out). The Standlake team running out comfortable winners ahead of Worthing and
SAA.
