Report by Bill
Thirty
one cars exactly for the annual SEGTO round including just one visitor, namely
277 Mr Perv. Used cars from the ‘70s featured 907 Clive Bowker’s Dolomite
from the Heavy Metal & mk4 Cortina for colleague 253 Bungee from a week
earlier but 702 GT upstaged this pairing with a fresh if crispy mk3. Made a
decade before the latter however was show-stealer 313 Mayhem’s Oxford. Cars
being all-in ensured an action packed afternoon.
Heat
1 - 111 Posh Boy (mk2 Cavalier) buried Mr Perv into 515 Timmy Aldridge early
in the opener though Bowker was quickly on hand to impressively jack the Cavvy.
576 Simon Hadland (Montego) then blasted the Dolly though he in turn fell victim
to 70 Steven Hart as 248 Foxy’s Maestro went in unaided. 167 Donut (cavalier
estate) met 98 Baldrick’s Proton in a psycho head-on which snapped &
stopped the former as 77 Bass in another mk2 Cavalier gave 207 Compo’s smart
motor a t-bone albeit accidentally with 573 Beanie (Scirocco) also connecting
with 207. Bass then hooked out Bowker as 716 Jamie tried running Bungee in. Hart
missed the bend, going in unaided & ending his day, Mr Perv also going off
line but found 815 Ian Castle’s Mondeo which softened the visitor’s impact
with the wall. Bungee attacked Mr Perv as Bass span Compo which detached a wheel
on the latter though he was still mobile & landed a shot on 575 Tritt’s
Cavalier. 126 Casey lead all the way & motored to an excellent win, hooking
all aside, 606 Boomer (Sunny) heaving 720 Kenny Blake’s Astra aside en route
to 2nd ahead of fellow Devil Beanie.
Result:
126 Dave Case, 606 Liam Weedon, 573 Chris Brooks, 575 Paul Tritton, 815 Ian
Castle, 714 Jez Gardiner
Heat
2 - Posh Boy was the first to show again in the second as he took Bowker out
to avenge his earlier treatment whilst Jamie introduced 714 Jezz’ Sunny to the
Armco. Castle nearly rolled Mr Perv as newcomer 981 Earl Pants (Pujo 405) leaned
Blake into 17 Gareth Tipper’s Audi 80. Mayhem spun Bungee before destroying
Tipper, Foxy also landing on the Audi before Bass ran him in. Mayhem continued
with a fine steam on Mr Perv before jacking 114 Darren Turner with Compo also
blasting the latter. Blake & Jezz teamed up on Boomer before Jezz went it
alone to bury Compo. Jamie was knocking on the leading Casey’s bootlid until
Mayhem of all people in his flying A60 latched onto both the former & Tritt,
swiping the pair of them into Compo. Mayhem’s fine run came to an end when Mr
Perv caught him which allowed GT to arrive & jack the Oxford. The field was
by now heavily depleted as Bass leaned GT in though the latter kept it mobile
& blasted Castle. Casey made it back to back wins, nearly a whole lap ahead
of Bass with Jamie 3rd, these three the only finishers.
Result:
126 Dave Case, 77 Steve Beasley, 716 Jamie Lyden
Final
- Mayhem found himself on his roof for the first time this season before even
reaching the start line courtesy of 2 Jon Bricknell (in his mk1 Cavalier from
the nudge & spin class) & Blake & praise to Bass & GT who were
quick to shield him. The Oxford was soon uprighted & we were off again,
Jamie spinning Beanie into the path of GT before 457 Aaron Hawes nearly flipped
Mayhem over again! Hawes then clouted GT whilst Bowker biffed aside 77 (now
piloted by Matt Cadle). Bricknell spun Blake only to be reversed in as Hawes
attacked Mayhem. Baldrick had worked wonders to ressurect the Proton & used
it to biff Jamie who then went on to meet GT on the nose, these two then
exchanging head-ons for a while until the mk3 cried enough & Jamie turned
attentions to Mayhem, the pair of them finding the wall, the Farina collecting
it’s third puncture of the race! Jezz went missing whilst in a place leaving
705 Simon Rowe to cross the line first ahead of Casey & Tritt , these three
entertaining with a thrilling tussel, Cadle 4th with Mayhem limping
on as the only other finisher.
Result:
705 Simon Rowe, 126 Dave Case, 575 Paul Tritton
Demolition
Derby - Ten was a good field for the DD, Jezz opening by trying to roll
Mayhem as 77 (this time driven by Tom Harris) launched Castle into 50 Paul
Thomas’ Orion. Mr Perv copped a hefty t-bone off Sonic Boom Boy’s nudge
& spin Astra, the latter then dealing likewise with the Farina which had
just connected with Jezz. Thomas found Castle who merely hit the brakes allowing
Jezz to trash the Orion with a storming blitz, the Sunny amazingly backing off!
Jezz was finally put down by Harris before Castle met the latter on the nose,
killing the pair of them to leave the 248 Maestro (piloted by Dippy Dave) the
last mover who then rounded the day off by blowing Harris up.
Result:
248 Dave Tustian
